Step 1: Remove the existing Cam Lock.
Remove the large mounting nut with a 7/8" deep socket or open-ended wrench.
- Please note, sometimes the threads on the locks become fouled; spraying lubricants on the threads to help remove the mounting nut might be necessary.
Step 2: Push the lock through/out.
- Please note there may be a rubber or synthetic gasket underneath the lock bezel. Remove the gasket but DO NOT throw it away, you will need the gasket for your new tubular cam locks.
Step 3: Reinstall the lock gasket if needed. Insert your new cam lock (with the cam -locking arm- off) into the hole and tighten the mounting nut into place. PLEASE be extremely cautious not to lose the governor. Do not over tighten, as your RV storage compartment door may not be made of a solid material.
Step 4: Install the cam (locking arm). DO NOT over tighten the cam nut. Over tightening may bind the lock.
Step 5: Check the rotation before closing the compartment door. If the rotation is not correct you will have to remove the cam and turn the governor over.
IMPORTANT NOTICE! PLEASE NOTE:
Your order has been shipped with any extra service key (uncovered). Tubular locks can at times "jump" out of alignment. Should your lock "jump" simply insert the service key into the lock and turn the key to its correct location. We recommend that you use this service key only if your lock should "jump" out of position.
Industrial Lock and Hardware recommends lubricating your tubular locks 3 to 4 times a year with Dri-Film Lubricant (SuperLube) manufactured by Synco.
